Hour Hand
The hour hand is the shorter, thicker hand on an analog clock that points to the current hour.
The hour hand completes one full rotation around the clock face every 12 hours. It moves slowly and is typically shorter and wider than the minute hand so children can distinguish between the two. When teaching kids to tell time, the hour hand is usually introduced first because it's simpler — children learn to identify 'o'clock' times before moving to minutes. I Can Tell Time starts by teaching only the hour hand before gradually introducing the minute hand.
